Musculoskeletal Exercise Physiology

We bridge the gap between pain, injury, and recovery, offering holistic movement solutions for complex musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation. Whether you're managing chronic pain, recovering from surgery, or seeking to improve strength and mobility, our expert exercise physiologists provide tailored programs to help you move with confidence and live without limitations.

Neck & Jaw

Neck and jaw pain often stem from postural imbalances, muscle tension, and poor movement patterns. At any.BODY, we take a holistic approach, addressing not just the site of pain but the underlying causes.

Common Conditions We Support

TMJ Dysfunction (TMD) – Jaw pain, clicking, or restricted movement
Neck Pain & Stiffness – Including disc-related issues and nerve pain
Headaches & Migraines – Often linked to tension and poor posture
Forward Head Posture & Upper Cross Syndrome – Chronic tightness and weakness

Our Approach

Balancing the ribcage & pelvis – Reducing strain on the neck and jaw
Breathwork & nervous system regulation – Releasing unnecessary tension
Targeted strength training – Activating stabilizing muscles while relaxing overworked areas
Postural & movement retraining – Optimizing how you move for long-term relief

By restoring balance and building strength in the right areas, we help you move better, feel better, and live pain-free.

Shoulder, Elbow & Wrist

Pain and dysfunction in the shoulder, elbow, and wrist can result from poor movement patterns, muscle imbalances, hypermobility, or nerve-related issues. At any.BODY, we take a holistic approach, addressing not just the pain but the underlying causes affecting your movement and strength.

Common Conditions We Support

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) – Stiffness and restricted movement
Hypermobile-Associated Nerve Pain & Subluxations – Joint instability leading to nerve irritation and pain
Rotator Cuff Injuries – Shoulder pain, weakness, or impingement
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow – Chronic pain from overuse or poor mechanics
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Nerve compression causing wrist pain and numbness
Bursitis – Inflammation causing pain and restricted mobility

Spine

Your spine is the foundation of movement, and issues in the neck, mid-back, or lower back can affect everything from posture to daily function. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, injury, or mobility restrictions, our women’s health exercise physiologists take a holistic approach to restoring spinal health and function.

Common Conditions We Support

Lower Back Pain & Sciatica – Nerve pain, disc issues, or muscular imbalances
Thoracic Stiffness & Ribcage Dysfunction – Poor mobility affecting breathing and movement
Postural Dysfunction & Hyperkyphosis – Rounded upper back, forward head posture, and spinal misalignment
Scoliosis & Spinal Instability – Managing asymmetry, pain, and movement patterns
Osteoporosis & Spinal Fractures – Safe exercise for bone health and strength

Hip, Knee, Ankle

Our feet are our shock absorbers, the first point of contact with the external world. They play a crucial role in absorbing forces and distributing them appropriately through the knees, hips, and spine. When dysfunction occurs in the feet, ankles, knees, or hips, it can lead to pain, instability, and movement compensations that affect the entire body.

At any.BODY, we recognize that lower limb pain is often complex, influenced by past injuries, surgeries, and movement patterns.

Common Conditions We Support

Hip & Knee Osteoarthritis – Managing pain and maintaining mobility
Tendinopathies (Hip, Patellar, Achilles) – Strengthening and restoring tendon function
Ligament Injuries (ACL, MCL, Ankle Sprains) – Rehabilitation for stability and return to activity
Fractures & Post-Surgical Recovery – Safe and effective strength rebuilding

Complex Conditions We Address

Plantar Fasciitis & Foot Pain – Improving load distribution and reducing strains

SIJ (Sacroiliac Joint) Pain & Dysfunction – Restoring pelvic alignment and stability
Hypermobile Joint-Related Pain – Enhancing control and strength in unstable joints

Pregnancy Related

At any.BODY, we take a holistic approach to pregnancy-related pain, recognizing that pelvic, spinal, and lower limb discomfort is often influenced by breathing patterns, core stability, and overall movement mechanics. Our goal is to support your body through safe, evidence-based exercise strategies that help you stay strong, mobile, and pain-free throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Common Conditions We Support

Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) – Instability, discomfort, or sharp pain in the pelvis and hips
Lower Back & Sciatica Pain – Nerve compression, muscular tension, or postural strain
Rib & Mid-Back Pain – Discomfort due to postural shifts and ribcage expansion
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Wrist and hand pain caused by fluid retention and nerve compression
Abdominal Separation (Diastasis Recti) – Managing core function during and after pregnancy

Pacing to Manage Pain

Persistent pain symptoms usually lead to changes in activity levels. Some individuals tend to avoid engaging in normal activities as a means of avoiding pain flare-ups.

We summarise this as having a bad relationship with movement. Other individuals push through their pain symptoms to get tasks completed, only to experience increased pain and subsequent inability to complete further activity until the pain decreases. Both of these approaches can have a detrimental effect on the quality of life, feelings of control over pain symptoms, and long-term engagement in meaningful daily activities.

Our Approach:

Work with our accredited exercise physiologists to create a roadmap back to movement. This roadmap will consist of pain education, well guided movement, giving you a clear understanding of your “problem areas” with a well programmed movement solution.

Fear Of Movement

Fundamentally, fear is an emotional response to an imminent threat. It can be a fear of heights, a fear of small spaces, a fear of snakes, or even a fear of injury, pain, and movement. Another term for a fear of movement is kinesiophobia – which is defined as “an excessive, irrational and debilitating fear to carry out a physical movement, due to a feeling of vulnerability to a painful injury or reinjury.”

Quite often, fear can be helpful as it is a protective response that stops us from doing something silly or putting ourselves in danger. But, fear can also lead to avoidance. Pain works as an alarm system, and with movement avoidance and fear that alarm system can get more sensitive.

When you be afraid of a movement, which might be based on an expectation that it will hurt due to a previous experience you have had, your alarm system becomes hyper-vigilant and is looking for a potential threat, which can increase your pain or continue to drive avoidance of the movement.

Our Approach to Fear of Movement

Education and guidance on HOW to move is key. Rather than telling you what NOT TO DO, we teach you how your joints should move. We understand that dependent on the pain, dependent on the injury there is a time for rest, however graded, structured, well managed and guided movement is key.

We want to help you use movement to manage your musculoskeletal pain.
